Jan 9th, 2024: I'm double checking the measurements of the componenets on the new Raspberry 5 boards and comparing them to the previous versions of my case. The RPi 5 boards are similar, however the 8GB and 4GB RAM chips are 0.008" different in height. I am natively developing the cases for the 8GB version, however the cases will fit either board by utilizing an 0.008" thick thermal pad sent with all cases to stick on the shorter 4Gb RAM chip if you are using that version. The thermal pillars will make contact with the 5 IC's on the PCB. Development is well under way and coming along nicely now. The next steps are to 3D print the prototype case to check the fit and then manufacturing a test aluminum case. A new tool for my shop this year is a proper thermal camera to check exactly how the heat dissipation is working. Stay tuned! Feel free to contact me with any questions or feature requests you may have. Thank you for all your emails coming in asking about the development of the new cases. I am humbled to know there is such a huge fan base and demand for my premium cases.
Raspberry Pi 5 case development has begun!
Nov 25th, 2023: I just received the Raspberry Pi 5 4GB. Most of the ports are in the same location as the previous Pi and only the RJ45 and USB ports needs to be swapped around. The Wicked Aluminum cases will be in stock soon at Wicked Aluminum.
You may notice that Wicked Aluminum redirects to my OptimaTrays.com store front now. I have combined multiple store fronts into one to make it easier on me to manage all my products for sale in one place. Rest assured it's still me (Benjamin Barch) manufacturing them and always has been with my main business Barch Designs behind the scenes.
I'm excited to start developing cases and accesories for the new Raspberry Pi 5 board! Thank you for your loyalty over the years.
Confirmed to fit the Raspberry Pi 4 8GB
May 29, 2020: The Raspberry Pi 4 8GB RAM has been released and I received my 8GB version today. I checked it's size and fit in my RPi 4 Cases and it fits great. The RAM chip is physically the same size as the 1GB and 4GB versions. The Wicked Aluminum cases are in stock and ready to ship today at Wicked Aluminum.
Raspberry Pi 4B Open Shield Case
August 17, 2019: The Raspberry Pi 4 Open Shield Case has been prototyped. I've been test fitting it tonight with a few Shields and HATs. This case continues to incorporate the heat dissipation design with heatsink pillars for the CPU, RAM, and USB chips. I am manufacturing these now and expect to have the listing done and stock ready to ship by Thursday at Wicked Aluminum.
Raspberry Pi 4B Customizable Case
August 14, 2019: The Raspberry Pi 4 Aluminum Customizable Case is ready. It just came off the CNC machine a few minutes ago. This case for a customer who needs only 1 USB 3.0 port, the RJ45, and the USB-C available, and all other ports closed off. It turned out great, and now you can get a Wicked Aluminum case configured however you need for your company or project.
August 12, 2019: I'm working on a Customizable case now that will allow any port access to be closed off to the outside. For instance if you only want the USB-C and a USB stack open with everything else closed off. The 3D print is finished and fits good, next to make it in aluminum. After that case is ready I have an Open Shield case which many of you have been waiting for. It allows almost any HAT or Shield to be plugged in while still utilizing a full aluminum case that draws the heat away from the Raspberry Pi with direct contact on the IC's just like the other cases I make.
Raspberry Pi 4B Standard and Secure Case
August 5, 2019: The Standard and Secure cases are in stock and ready to ship at WickedAluminum.com.
July 24, 2019: I'm making some adjustments to the Raspberry Pi 4 Case tonight as I see the the first aluminum prototypes come off the CNC machine. I'm probably being too picky, but I'm excited as this is turning out to be the most beautiful case yet. It's awesome in form and function. I'll be changing the Pre-Order status to "In Stock" on Monday or Tuesday at Wicked Aluminum. Anyone who has already pre-ordered will see shipping and tracking info within 48 hours.

The Raspberry Pi 4 1GB and 4GB boards came in and I have a 3D printed design that will fit all 3 boards even though the RAM chips are different. In this video I talk about the features and design of my Raspberry Pi 4 Standard Case. I've opened up Pre-Orders for the case at Wicked Aluminum and I expect the first Aluminum Cases to be ready for shipping next week. Thanks to all of you for your input and encouragement to bring this new Wicked Aluminum Raspberry Pi 4 Case to fruition.

My Raspberry Pi 4B 2GB board came in. I've been working in CAD today and have designed the Standard Series case first. I'll be 3D printing a few cases over the weekend to get it just right before manufacturing in aluminum. I expect the first Wicked Aluminum cases to be available within a week if all goes smooth. I will be checking to make sure the case will also work with the 1GB and 4GB versions as soon as my boards arrive which should be next week.

I've just finished a 3D print of the prototype for the Cirrus Logic Audio Card. Test fitting the 3D print with the boards and then manufacturing the first aluminum case this week.
There are 3 sections to the case. The unique heatsink capability has been incorporated into the design within the middle section of the case. This means your Hi Fidelity Sound machine will run nice and cool when using a Barch Designs Case. I've also designed this case to fit the Raspberry Pi B+, 2, and 3.

Description of Features
There are Fiber Optic cables that have been manufactured into the case. Each Fiber Optic cable is positioned directly above an LED. Labels are engraved next to each LED which allows you to see what activity is happening clearly..
The Raspberry Pi Case starts as two pieces of 6061 Aerospace Grade Aluminum which is milled on a CNC machine to exact tolerances. This allows just enough room for the Raspberry Pi to slide down into the case. Any bigger and the Pi would be loose and any smaller it would bind up.
The Raspberry Pi Case comes with thermal paste (heat sink goop) to apply to the 3 pillars of aluminum which come into contact with the 3 heat emitting IC chips. This pulls the heat to the outside of the case working as a heat sink where the abundance of surface area allows the heat to escape easily keeping your Pi running nice and cool.
The GPIO Port of the Raspberry Pi is easily accessed by plugging in the cable before the top of the case is screwed down. The slot that is milled into the top of the case allows the ribbon cable access to the outside.
The SD Card Slot ensures your SD card slides into the right spot. We have enlarged the Power slot to allow all size cables to fit. Each manufacturer of cable seems to have their own size casing around the connector.
These are Mountable to a wall or desk by using #8 wood screws through the bottom 3 holes in the Raspberry Pi Case.
The Raspberry Pi Case comes with a 5 year warranty. If it breaks we will replace it Period! Feel free to email or call us with any questions. Our business is the business of making Billet Aluminum designs for consumer products and we stand behind our name. The quality and craftsmanship are unsurpassed. Assembly of the Raspberry Pi Case
Inside the case is a sheet of plastic under the Neoprene which keeps the Raspberry Pi electrically insulated from the metal case. When the top and bottom half of the case are put together, the Neoprene Foam Rubber squishes to conform to the shape of the bottom of the circuit board which holds the Raspberry Pi snuggly in place while avoiding unnecessary pressure on the circuit board. You can see how the thermal paste for the pillars comes into contact with the IC chips on the board. You want just enough paste to cover the top of the chip fully without spilling over.
